Chama, New Mexico
is a small village in the mountains of northern New Mexico that began as a railroad town in the mid 1800s and that legacy continues today. The town is home to the Cumbres and Toltec Scenic Railroad, which takes passengers on a thrilling ride into the mountains. The area is also known as an outdoor recreational getaway which offers everything from fishing and hiking to panning for gold. The town survives on tourism; therefore the main sources of income in town, aside from the railroad, are accommodations, restaurants, retail shops and other local services. State and local parks are also located in the area and Chama is a town that definitely revives the spirit of the Old West.
